This standard contains the details identifying each practitioner as an individual, together with further information that is linked to that individual.
In addition to the contact details, gender and date of birth each practitioner is assigned a unique Specialist ID. This is defined by Healthcode and used to map the practitioner to the treatment sites where they work and hold practising privileges and the insurers who have recognised them. They will also be given a status defining the amount of private practice work they undertake.
The contact addresses, telephone numbers, mobile phone numbers, fax numbers and email addresses for correspondence and billing purposes are as defined by the practitioner for their personal use. The standards relating to Name, Addresses and Telecoms are listed separately.
The details associated with correspondence contact is used for all general correspondence from Healthcode and any private medical insurers or hospitals where the practitioner has a relationship that is facilitated by The PPR. The details associated with billing contact is where the insurance companies send remittance advices (if not done electronically). These details can also be given to patients who have a shortfall to pay.
